Roll-off dumpster rental in Midland
Approx. 24 road miles from the yard, around 31 minutes.
Midland is approx. 24 road miles northwest of the yard, around 31 minutes — same-day or next-day options when available; call before noon and we can often deliver that same afternoon. It is a city of 42,547 at the 2020 Census — 160 of them in Bay County, the rest in Midland County (83,494).
City forces collect residential refuse, and lumber, drywall, windows, shingles and other building products count as bulky or heavy items that go only to the monthly heavy-item pickup and may not be put out early (§ 22-2, § 22-57). The City's free 4-yard overnight loaner container doesn't take lumber, masonry or building materials. Remodels, roofs and tear-outs need a roll-off.

Local knowledge
Getting our bearings in Midland
Knowing a city properly is the difference between covering it and showing up with the right box.
- Right-of-way permit — “All work within the public street right of way requires a permit from the City of Midland,” and the right-of-way includes streets, sidewalks and the out lawn. The General Right of Way Permit is the City's listed permit for that work.
- No early-morning parking — no parking on City streets from 3 a.m. to 6 a.m. without a special police permit (§ 52-23).
- Plowing — residential streets are plowed only if more than 4 inches of snow falls within 24 hours.
- City of Midland Landfill — 4311 E Ashman St; it accepts only waste generated in Midland County. Midland County residents may drop up to 3 cubic yards a month there free; businesses aren't eligible.
- Household hazardous waste — City of Midland and Midland County Department of Public Health collections at the landfill, by appointment, 989-832-6681.
- Engineering — 989-837-3348.
What comes out of Midland properties
Roofing in 15s and 20s, kitchen and bath remodels in 10s and 15s, whole-home clean-outs in 20s, office and retail renovations in 30s, and major construction or demolition in 40s. Shingles, drywall and lumber wait for the City's monthly heavy-item day otherwise; in a container they go out on your schedule.
Michigan law keeps these out of landfills (MCL 324.11514): used oil, lead-acid batteries, regulated hazardous waste, low-level radioactive waste, liquid waste and loads with free liquids, sewage, PCBs and medical waste; asbestos only goes to a landfill set up for it; and no more than a small amount of whole tires, used beverage containers or yard waste — leaves, grass, brush and trimmings under 4 feet long and 2 inches across (MCL 324.11506). Keep yard waste separate from construction debris and household trash and tell us when a load is yard waste. Fridges, freezers and air conditioners need the refrigerant removed by a certified technician first, EGLE says, so ask before loading one. No paint, solvents, automotive fluids, propane tanks, fuel containers, batteries, medical waste, asbestos or hazardous chemicals in our containers. Household chemicals aren't banned from landfills, but EGLE says they are not well suited for disposal there. Michigan has haulers remind customers every year what's banned (MCL 324.11527a) — our what can and can't go in a dumpster guide covers it.

Sizes
Choosing a container size in Midland
Weight is what usually decides the size, not how much room the pile takes up.
| Size | Dimensions | Capacity | Weight included | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 10 Yard Dumpster | about 12 ft long × 8 ft wide × 3.5–4 ft high | about 3 pickup truck loads | 2–3 tons | Bathroom and small kitchen remodels, flooring and tile removal, roofing repairs, garage and attic cleanouts, yard debris and small amounts of concrete or asphalt. |
| 15 Yard Dumpster | about 14 ft long × 8 ft wide × 4.5–5 ft high | about 4–5 pickup truck loads | 2–3 tons | Kitchen and bathroom renovations, roofing tear-offs, flooring, carpet and drywall removal, garage and attic cleanouts, deck or fence removal and yard cleanups. |
| 20 Yard Dumpster | about 22 ft long × 8 ft wide × 4.5 ft high | about 6 pickup truck loads | 3–4 tons | Whole-home cleanouts, full kitchen or bathroom remodels, roofing, flooring, drywall or siding replacement, estate cleanups, light demolition and deck or fence tear-downs. |
| 30 Yard Dumpster | about 22 ft long × 8 ft wide × 6 ft high | about 9 pickup truck loads | 4–5 tons | Full home or office renovations, new home builds and demolition, commercial remodeling, large roofing jobs, major cleanouts and estate projects, and apartment renovations. |
| 40 Yard Dumpster | about 22 ft long × 8 ft wide × 8 ft high | about 12 pickup truck loads | 5–6 tons | Commercial and industrial construction, full-building renovations or demolitions, large office or retail cleanouts, major remodels and estate cleanups, apartment renovations and storm recovery. |
Permits, placement and who may haul in Midland
Who may haul: we found no City private-hauler licence or franchise in the garbage or licences chapters. City forces collect residential refuse, and City code bars driving any truck not built or loaded to keep its load, contents or litter off the street (§ 22-13). We're licensed and insured.
In the street: “Any use or activity within the public right-of-way shall first require permission from the City Council, either directly or as delegated by ordinance” (§ 48-1(a)). The City's Permits page says all work in the street right-of-way — streets, sidewalks and the out lawn — needs a City permit; the General Right of Way Permit is listed at $105 (fees as of 7/1/25), though its form lists driveway, curb-cut, sidewalk and street-cut work, not dumpsters. Ask Engineering, 989-837-3348, before anything goes in a street. You do not need to be home as long as the spot is clear, our drivers use boards and careful placement to protect concrete and asphalt, and please don't move the container once it's down — call us and we'll move it.
Winter: no parking on City streets from 3 a.m. to 6 a.m. without a special police permit (Uniform Traffic Code § 8.28, as amended by § 52-23), and the City's snow page warns vehicles may be ticketed and towed. Driveway first.
Disposal: the City of Midland Landfill only accepts waste generated in Midland County — Midland County is a closed county, the City says. Our loads go to licensed Mid Michigan recycling and disposal facilities.
State highways: MDOT manages the state highway right-of-way, and we found no MDOT permit for setting a private container on it — so beside a state highway the container goes on private property, never in the right-of-way. We check the exact address.
Covered loads: Michigan bars driving a vehicle unless it is loaded so nothing can drop, sift, leak, blow off or escape, and open loads must be covered or secured (MCL 257.720). Keep debris level with or below the top rim — that's what makes the load safe to transport.
Remodel or tear-down: before a regulated demolition or renovation, EGLE wants notice through its MiEnviro Portal at least 10 working days ahead. Privately owned homes of four or fewer units aren't covered by the federal asbestos rule (NESHAP) unless they come down for urban renewal or as part of a public or commercial project; apartment buildings of five or more units are. Removing more than 10 linear feet or 15 square feet of friable asbestos also needs MIOSHA notice 10 days ahead, so asbestos rules may still apply to a house. Asbestos never goes in our containers; tell us if you find any.

How it works
Booking a dumpster in Midland
Booking a container here takes one phone call and about five minutes.
Step 1: Call and tell us the job
One short conversation. We ask the address, what you are clearing — a cleanout, a renovation, a roof, a yard, a job site — what you are tossing, roughly how much there is, and how much room the driveway or lot gives us.
Step 2: We size it and quote it flat
We recommend the right size, so you do not pay for more than you need or run out of space, and you get a flat-rate quote whenever possible that covers delivery, pickup, the rental period and disposal within the weight limit. If it is concrete, shingles or dirt, we say up front that weight decides the size.
Step 3: Delivered where you want it
The driver sets the container on the driveway, lot or job site where you asked, on a flat, solid surface rather than the lawn, with protection boards on request. Often same-day or next-day, when available. You do not need to be home if the area is clear.
Step 4: Load it at your pace
Keep it level with or below the top rim and keep the problem items out — paint, solvents and other liquids, oil and fuel, chemicals, car batteries, tires, propane tanks and fuel containers, medical waste and asbestos. Electronics go to recycling instead. Need more time or a swap mid-job? One call.
Step 5: We pick it up and handle the disposal
Call or text when it is full — in most cases we can collect your bin within 24 hours. The load is covered or tied down for the road and goes to a licensed Mid Michigan disposal or recycling facility, with concrete, wood and metal recycled whenever possible.
