Roll-off dumpster rental in Essexville

Approx. 21 road miles from the yard, around 33 minutes.

Essexville is approx. 21 road miles north-northeast of the yard, around 33 minutes — same-day or next-day options when available; call before noon and we can often deliver that same afternoon. It is a city of 3,379 at the 2020 Census, in Bay County.

The City, through its Department of Public Works and contractors, handles regular and seasonal waste collection, curbside recycling, yard waste, brush chipping and fall leaf pickup — but not building materials in large amounts such as concrete, wood and earth (§ 2.702(aa)). Remodels, roofs and clean-outs are roll-off work.

Local knowledge

Getting our bearings in Essexville

Knowing a city properly is the difference between covering it and showing up with the right box.

  • City refuse-collector licence — required to collect, transport or dispose of refuse in or from the City, approved by City Council (§ 2.710).
  • The outlawn — from the curb to the far edge of the sidewalk plus 15 inches, or 16 ft 3 in from the curb where there's no sidewalk, including sidewalks and driveway approaches (§ 4.401).
  • Nothing on the outlawn — objects placed there are treated as abandoned and removed by the City without notice (§ 4.404).
  • Brush chipping — on the DPW's published schedule, with brush out Sunday night after 5 p.m.
  • City Hall — 1107 Woodside Ave, 989-893-0772; DPW, 1500 Pine St, (989) 893-6101.

What comes out of Essexville properties

Garage clutter and kitchen remodels in 10s, flooring and medium remodels in 15s, roofing and whole-home clean-outs in 20s, and large clean-outs or new construction in 30s and 40s. A 10-yard is about 12 ft long and 8 ft wide and a 20-yard about 22 ft long — measure your driveway from the outlawn line back. City pickup won't take large amounts of concrete, wood or earth.

Michigan law keeps these out of landfills (MCL 324.11514): used oil, lead-acid batteries, regulated hazardous waste, low-level radioactive waste, liquid waste and loads with free liquids, sewage, PCBs and medical waste; asbestos only goes to a landfill set up for it; and no more than a small amount of whole tires, used beverage containers or yard waste — leaves, grass, brush and trimmings under 4 feet long and 2 inches across (MCL 324.11506). Keep yard waste separate from construction debris and household trash and tell us when a load is yard waste. Fridges, freezers and air conditioners need the refrigerant removed by a certified technician first, EGLE says, so ask before loading one. No paint, solvents, automotive fluids, propane tanks, fuel containers, batteries, medical waste, asbestos or hazardous chemicals in our containers. Household chemicals aren't banned from landfills, but EGLE says they are not well suited for disposal there. Michigan has haulers remind customers every year what's banned (MCL 324.11527a) — our what can and can't go in a dumpster guide covers it. We found no Bay County household hazardous waste collection scheduled; ask the Bay County Health Department.

Permits, placement and who may haul in Essexville

Who may haul — the rule that matters: “No person shall engage in the business of collection, transportation or disposal of refuse in the City without first obtaining a license” (§ 2.710(a)). The Clerk issues it after City Council approval, equipment is inspected by the Police Department and City Manager, vehicles carry the licensee's name and number, and licences last a year (§ 2.710). No one may use a collector the City hasn't licensed (§ 2.703(f)). Refuse includes household construction and remodeling materials, but not debris from new construction or major reconstruction (§ 2.702(u)). We're licensed and insured.

On your property — past the outlawn: “no physical objects may be placed or located upon, into, or beneath the surface of outlawns” (§ 4.404), and the outlawn includes sidewalks and driveway approaches (§ 4.401); no motorized vehicle may park there either (§ 4.405(3)). We set the container on your driveway beyond the outlawn line, not on the apron. You do not need to be home as long as the spot is clear, our drivers use boards and careful placement to protect concrete and asphalt, and please don't move the container once it's down — call us and we'll move it.

In the street: we found no street-use, encroachment or dumpster permit on the City's fee pages, so the container stays off the street.

Winter: we found no overnight or winter parking ban. Snow from private property may not be pushed onto streets or a non-adjoining outlawn (§ 4.302) — leave room around the container for your own snow.

Covered loads: Michigan bars driving a vehicle unless it is loaded so nothing can drop, sift, leak, blow off or escape, and open loads must be covered or secured (MCL 257.720). Keep debris level with or below the top rim — that's what makes the load safe to transport.

Remodel or tear-down: before a regulated demolition or renovation, EGLE wants notice through its MiEnviro Portal at least 10 working days ahead. Privately owned homes of four or fewer units aren't covered by the federal asbestos rule (NESHAP) unless they come down for urban renewal or as part of a public or commercial project; apartment buildings of five or more units are. Removing more than 10 linear feet or 15 square feet of friable asbestos also needs MIOSHA notice 10 days ahead, so asbestos rules may still apply to a house. Asbestos never goes in our containers; tell us if you find any.

How it works

Booking a dumpster in Essexville

Booking a container here takes one phone call and about five minutes.

  1. Step 1: Call and tell us the job

One short conversation. We ask the address, what you are clearing — a cleanout, a renovation, a roof, a yard, a job site — what you are tossing, roughly how much there is, and how much room the driveway or lot gives us.

  2. Step 2: We size it and quote it flat

We recommend the right size, so you do not pay for more than you need or run out of space, and you get a flat-rate quote whenever possible that covers delivery, pickup, the rental period and disposal within the weight limit. If it is concrete, shingles or dirt, we say up front that weight decides the size.

  3. Step 3: Delivered where you want it

The driver sets the container on the driveway, lot or job site where you asked, on a flat, solid surface rather than the lawn, with protection boards on request. Often same-day or next-day, when available. You do not need to be home if the area is clear.

  4. Step 4: Load it at your pace

Keep it level with or below the top rim and keep the problem items out — paint, solvents and other liquids, oil and fuel, chemicals, car batteries, tires, propane tanks and fuel containers, medical waste and asbestos. Electronics go to recycling instead. Need more time or a swap mid-job? One call.

  5. Step 5: We pick it up and handle the disposal

Call or text when it is full — in most cases we can collect your bin within 24 hours. The load is covered or tied down for the road and goes to a licensed Mid Michigan disposal or recycling facility, with concrete, wood and metal recycled whenever possible.

Local answers

Dumpster rental in Essexville — common questions

Is Essexville same-day?

Same-day or next-day options when available — it is about 33 minutes from the yard. Call (989) 930-1786 before noon for the best chance.

Can the dumpster sit on my driveway apron in Essexville?

No. The outlawn includes sidewalks and driveway approaches, and City code bars objects there (Sec. 4.401 and 4.404). We set the container on your driveway past the outlawn line.

Who licenses refuse collectors in Essexville?

The City: a licence issued by the Clerk after City Council approval is required to collect, transport or dispose of refuse in or from the City (Sec. 2.710).

Will Essexville pick up remodel debris?

City pickup won't take building materials in large amounts, including concrete, wood and earth (Sec. 2.702(aa)). A remodel goes in a roll-off.
