Roll-off dumpster rental in Auburn

Approx. 21 road miles from the yard, around 27 minutes.

Auburn is approx. 21 road miles north-northwest of the yard, around 27 minutes — same-day or next-day options when available; call before noon and we can often deliver that same afternoon. It is a city of 2,068 at the 2020 Census, in Bay County, with US-10 running through it.

Every resident uses the collection service the City provides or contracts (§ 50.01), and rubbish goes only to an approved rubbish collector (§ 50.07) — but the code's rubbish leaves out earth and waste from building operations (§ 50.02), and City curbside won't take concrete, bricks, tree stumps, cyclone fencing or railroad ties. Remodels, roofs and clean-outs are roll-off work.

Local knowledge

Getting our bearings in Auburn

Knowing a city properly is the difference between covering it and showing up with the right box.

  • City-contracted trash — all residents use the collection service provided or contracted by the City (§ 50.01).
  • Not at the curb — concrete and bricks, tree stumps, cyclone fencing and railroad ties.
  • Street permit — occupying a street with building materials or machinery, or for any other purpose, needs a City Engineer permit, a cash deposit and insurance (§§ 95.003, 95.035).
  • Winter parking — no motor vehicle on City streets from 2 a.m. to 6 a.m., November 1 to April 1 (§ 70.04).
  • Household hazardous waste — the City refers residents to the Bay County Health Department, 989-895-4006 ext. 3.
  • City Office — 113 E. Elm St, (989) 662-6761.

What comes out of Auburn properties

Kitchen remodels in 10s and 15s, roofing in 15s and 20s, whole-home clean-outs in 20s, large clean-outs in 30s, and demolition or major construction in 40s. Concrete and brick don't go to the curb in Auburn — in a container they go in limited loads, kept separate to stay inside weight limits.

Michigan law keeps these out of landfills (MCL 324.11514): used oil, lead-acid batteries, regulated hazardous waste, low-level radioactive waste, liquid waste and loads with free liquids, sewage, PCBs and medical waste; asbestos only goes to a landfill set up for it; and no more than a small amount of whole tires, used beverage containers or yard waste — leaves, grass, brush and trimmings under 4 feet long and 2 inches across (MCL 324.11506). Keep yard waste separate from construction debris and household trash and tell us when a load is yard waste. Fridges, freezers and air conditioners need the refrigerant removed by a certified technician first, EGLE says, so ask before loading one. No paint, solvents, automotive fluids, propane tanks, fuel containers, batteries, medical waste, asbestos or hazardous chemicals in our containers. Household chemicals aren't banned from landfills, but EGLE says they are not well suited for disposal there. Michigan has haulers remind customers every year what's banned (MCL 324.11527a) — our what can and can't go in a dumpster guide covers it.

Permits, placement and who may haul in Auburn

Who may haul: all residents use the collection service the City provides or contracts (§ 50.01), and rubbish may go only to an approved rubbish collector (§ 50.07); the code's rubbish excludes earth and waste from building operations (§ 50.02). We found no hauler licence or approval process, and the posted code runs through 2014. We're licensed and insured.

In the street: no one may place any article, thing or obstruction in a street, apart from brief moving obstructions and lawful parking (§ 95.002(B)). Occupying a street with materials or machinery for a building job, or for any other purpose, needs a permit from the City Engineer, a cash deposit and an insurance policy (§§ 95.003, 95.035). Driveway first. You do not need to be home as long as the spot is clear, our drivers use boards and careful placement to protect concrete and asphalt, and please don't move the container once it's down — call us and we'll move it.

Winter: no motor vehicle may park on City streets from 2 a.m. to 6 a.m., November 1 to April 1 (§ 70.04). The rule is written for vehicles, but it's one more reason the container goes on the driveway.

State highways: US-10 runs through Auburn. MDOT manages the state highway right-of-way, and we found no MDOT permit for setting a private container on it — so beside a state highway the container goes on private property, never in the right-of-way. We check the exact address.

Covered loads: Michigan bars driving a vehicle unless it is loaded so nothing can drop, sift, leak, blow off or escape, and open loads must be covered or secured (MCL 257.720). Keep debris level with or below the top rim — that's what makes the load safe to transport.

Remodel or tear-down: before a regulated demolition or renovation, EGLE wants notice through its MiEnviro Portal at least 10 working days ahead. Privately owned homes of four or fewer units aren't covered by the federal asbestos rule (NESHAP) unless they come down for urban renewal or as part of a public or commercial project; apartment buildings of five or more units are. Removing more than 10 linear feet or 15 square feet of friable asbestos also needs MIOSHA notice 10 days ahead, so asbestos rules may still apply to a house. Asbestos never goes in our containers; tell us if you find any.

How it works

Booking a dumpster in Auburn

Booking a container here takes one phone call and about five minutes.

  1. Step 1: Call and tell us the job

One short conversation. We ask the address, what you are clearing — a cleanout, a renovation, a roof, a yard, a job site — what you are tossing, roughly how much there is, and how much room the driveway or lot gives us.

  2. Step 2: We size it and quote it flat

We recommend the right size, so you do not pay for more than you need or run out of space, and you get a flat-rate quote whenever possible that covers delivery, pickup, the rental period and disposal within the weight limit. If it is concrete, shingles or dirt, we say up front that weight decides the size.

  3. Step 3: Delivered where you want it

The driver sets the container on the driveway, lot or job site where you asked, on a flat, solid surface rather than the lawn, with protection boards on request. Often same-day or next-day, when available. You do not need to be home if the area is clear.

  4. Step 4: Load it at your pace

Keep it level with or below the top rim and keep the problem items out — paint, solvents and other liquids, oil and fuel, chemicals, car batteries, tires, propane tanks and fuel containers, medical waste and asbestos. Electronics go to recycling instead. Need more time or a swap mid-job? One call.

  5. Step 5: We pick it up and handle the disposal

Call or text when it is full — in most cases we can collect your bin within 24 hours. The load is covered or tied down for the road and goes to a licensed Mid Michigan disposal or recycling facility, with concrete, wood and metal recycled whenever possible.
